He listed his wife Lillian Lanchbury, Mimico as his next of kin. He listed his occupation as a printer and indicated that he had no previous military experience. He was 38 years and 4 months of age and stood 5 feet 4 1/2 inches. He had brown eyes, dark hair and complexion. He had a burn scar below his right breast. He was a Baptist.
According to the 1914 Toronto City directory he was a painter living on the north side of Dean Street, Mimico. In the 1921 Toronto City directory he is living on the south side of Symons Street, Mimico.
