According to his attestation papers, dated September 19, 1916, Walter Weaver was born in Glasgow Scotland on November 26, 1899. He listed his mother Margaret Weaver, Macdonald Avenue, as his next of kin. He was a machinist apprentice and had no previous military experience. He was 16 years, 9 months old and 5 foot 11/4 inches tall. He had gray eyes with fair hair and complexion. He was a member of the Church of England.
There is a second set of attestation papers dated September 3, 1918. In these he states that he was born in Patrick, Scotland and was living at 355 Perth Street, Toronto. His age is listed as 19 years 2 months.
