According to his attestation papers, dated January 8, 1916, Kenneth Kipling Warner was born in York County on April 19, 1897. He listed his mother Victoria Warner as his next of kin. He listed his occupation as railroad employee and indicated that he had had previous military experience with the 12th Regiment, York Rangers. He was 18 years, 9 months old and was 5 foot 7 inches tall. He had two scars from an operation on the right side of his neck due to "cerneal ademites". He was Methodist.
According to the 1912 Toronto City directory he Victoria Warner lived on the south side of Southampton (present day Cavel Avenue).
